A High Wall in Contempt
A High Wall in Contempt
One of my favorite proverbs from the wisest man who ever lived is this, “A mans wealth is his strong city and a high wall in his contempt. Proverbs 10:5
When we think of wealth we most always think of money. But wealth can mean many things. One of the areas of wealth that we most often neglect to think about is knowledge. You can have a wealth of knowledge. Ever try to talk to someone who is wealthy in knowledge? You may have a great insight into a certain issue, and yet when you try to share it with someone who already has a fixed idea on the subject; good luck.
Their so called wealth of knowledge is a high wall, and in their contempt they have no time for you. This is what I am painfully having to learn again, as I now try to bring significant facts to light concerning one of the most important findings of our time; the location for the 3rd temple of the Jews.
I do not know why it is so troublesome, after all historically there are plenty of examples of men who have made discoveries in the past who were rebuffed which one should take inspiration from.
Look at Galileo who lived in the 16h – 17th century who was considered by the Church to be a witch. It had been conventional knowledge; and all the world believed, that without question the sun revolved around the earth. When Galileo was brought before the so called learned clergy of that day they demanded that he recant.
He was tried by the Holy Office, then found “vehemently suspect of heresy“, was forced to recant, and spent the rest of his life under house arrest. It was while Galileo was under house arrest that he wrote one of his finest works, Two New Sciences, in which he summarized the work he had done some forty years earlier, on the two sciences now called kinematics and strength of materia .
It so often happens that when one bucks convention he is placed in confinement as it was with this amazing man, and so it was with the Apostle Paul, and others who professed faith in Christ.
Yet, eventually the truth of Galileo’s discoveries won the day and today no one questions his scientific discoveries.
The most hotly contested piece of real estate today is the so-called temple mount in Jerusalem. And this is because the Muslims claim it belongs to them and the Jews argue that no this is where their former temple were built; both are wrong. What is very sad about the Christians; because they should know better, is that they go along with the Jewish bias.
But try telling any of them anything and it is like trying to batter down a very high wall. “A mans wealth is his strong city and a high wall in his contempt. Proverbs 10:5
The New Testament calls this an “unteachable spirit.” The most unteachable people are those who are deeply invested in their religion. They are the most difficult, because they take a position of knowing. Their so-called wealth had made them a high wall and in thern they write you off.
